1040-SR (Web-based) | How to File State Return Without the Federal Return

To file the state return without filing the federal return, you need to follow these simple steps below:

1. Open the return

2. After entering all the information, from the left-side widget, go to E-file

   Open

   

3. Under Federal Return, check the Only Transmit the State return(s) box.

4. Continue the e-filing process normally.
