1040-SR (Desktop) | How to Set Up a Charge for Sales Tax (If Required)

Some states require tax preparers to charge sales tax for their services. The sales tax percentage can be entered by following the steps below:

  1. From the software’s Main Menu (Quick Menu), go to Configuration

     

  2. Go to Fees / Billing Setup

 

3. Select Advanced Fee Setup

4. Click Generate Sales Tax on Preparer Fee

5. Type the percentage you’re required to charge

 

The amount entered will be charged based on your tax preparation fees and will display on the taxpayer's invoice.
