1040-SR (Desktop) | How to Remove Third Party Designee From Tax Returns

💡What’s a third-party designee?

To allow a third-party designee is to allow a person on your tax form to discuss that specific tax return and year with the IRS.

1040-SR allows you to default the third party designee to either the preparer, another designee, or leave the field blank. If the designee is the preparer, the 3rd Party Designee box will be marked in the Paid Preparer Use Only section of Form 1040. If the preparer is not the 3rd Party Designee, the information will print in the Third Party Designee section on Form 1040.
